New Development: USB 2.0 Typ-C Lite Version (16pin)

The USB Type-C interface is used in a lot of different devices. Currently these connector are mainly used for special power supply applications like power adapters, power banks and to replace the USB Type-A or Type-B (mini and micro) standard.

To cope with these needs leading global connector suppliers like JAE and Amphenol ICC developed a new generation of a USB Type-C receptacle with only 16pins which is enough to fulfil the USB 2.0 standard. The downsizing still allows support of USB Power Delivery with a rated current of 5A maximum. Another important benefit of the Lite Version is that there is 1 row instead of 2 rows. This way the PCB design is much more convenient for the production process and also offers as well a shorter connector form factor to save space on the PCB.

Highlights of the Lite Version:

  • Competitive price compared to 24pins.
  • Current rating of 5A max and power rating up to 100W
  • Easy to use for production and PCB-Design (single row with 16pins)
  • Space saving
  • Reversible use

·  10,000 mating cycles
