Shortages? Allocation? Looking for a distributor with freely-available stock?

Broadest portfolio of TI parts available in stock

Buyers need no reminding that certain parts have been on very long leadtimes – if not full-blown allocation – for some while. This is a situation that has been driven by explosive growth in the automobile and IoT markets, mergers and acquisitions activities, and, in some cases, a reluctance to bring on new manufacturing capability caused by global economic considerations.

Distribution – which should pick up the slack – has not always been able to respond, due mainly to the fact that financially, holding inventory is generally seen as an ‘avoidable expense’. Some of the big, publically-traded distributors have run stocks down, so there simply is not much freely-available inventory in the channel.

One notable exception is Mouser Electronics. As part of the TTI Group of companies which is owned by Berkshire Hathaway, Mouser is very well-resourced, and has always believed in having huge inventories on its shelves, available for anyone to buy. As you read this, the company will have over one million different part types in stock, and this will continue to ramp during 2019. The result is that Mouser has been able to continue to supply parts immediately on a two to three day delivery time across most of Europe, when other distributors have been left quoting lead times of up to one year.

Newly-introduced parts may be especially hard to find, since distribution generally likes to have an order history before committing to stocks. With a new part there is no order history. Again, Mouser is different in that it specializes in making the newest parts available as soon as they are launched, so that customers can build innovation into their latest projects.

As an example of its range, Mouser offers industry’s broadest portfolio of the newest Texas Instruments semiconductor solutions, stocking over 45,000 TI products, including over 4,000 development kits, and adding new products every day. All these parts and kits are immediately available for anyone to buy; they are not held against a scheduled customer order. Therefore designers who experience a ‘Eureka Moment’ aren’t frustrated by lack of product availability.

Examples of TI parts in stock at Mouser that customers may have had difficulty securing from other sources include:

LDO: TPS7B6933QDCYRQ1

The TPS7B69xx-Q1 low-dropout linear regulator is designed for up to 40 V VI operations. With only 15-µA (typical) quiescent current at light load, the device is suitable for standby microcontroller systems especially in automotive applications.

Opto sensor: OPT3001DNPR

The OPT3001 is a single-chip lux meter, measuring the intensity of light as visible by the human eye. The precision spectral response and strong IR rejection of the device enables it to accurately meter the intensity of light as seen by the human eye regardless of light source.

Comparator: TLV3502AIDCNR

TLV350x push-pull output comparators feature a fast 4.5 ns propagation delay and operation from 2.7 V to 5.5 V. Beyond-the-rails input common-mode range makes it an ideal choice for low-voltage applications.

Buck converter: TPS563200DDCT

The TPS562200 and TPS563200 are simple, easy-to use, 2 A and 3 A synchronous step-down (buck) converters in 6 pin SOT-23 package. The devices are optimized to operate with minimum external component counts and also optimized to achieve low standby current.

Synchronous buck converters: TPS54302DDCT & TPS563200DDCT

The TPS54302 is a 4.5 V to 28 V input voltage range, 3 A synchronous buck converter. It includes two integrated switching FETs, internal loop compensation and 5 ms internal soft start to reduce component count.

The TPS562200 and TPS563200 are easy-touse, 2 A and 3 A synchronous step-down (buck) converters in 6 pin SOT-23 package. The devices are optimized to operate with minimum external component counts and also optimized to achieve low standby current.

Switching regulator: TPS55340RTET

The TPS55340 is a monolithic, non-synchronous, switching regulator with integrated 5-A, 40-V power switch. The device can be configured in several standard switching-regulator topologies, including boost, SEPIC, and isolated flyback.

Analogue Switches: CD74HC4051PWR

The CDx4HC405x and CDx4HCT405x devices are digitally-controlled analogue switches that use achieve operating speeds similar to LSTTL with the low-power consumption of standard CMOS.

There are many other example, both from TI and the 750+ other suppliers on Mouser’s line card. And remember, all parts that Mouser supplies are sourced directly from the manufacturer through authorised agreements, so there are no counterfeit issues to contend with.
