Richardson RFPD: high-power front-end module targets automotive design

Richardson RFPD has announced availability of a new Skyworks high-power front-end module designed for automotive V2V and V2X applications.

Richardson RFPD, Inc., an Arrow Electronics company, announced today the availability and full design support capabilities for a high-power front-end module from Skyworks Solutions, Inc.

The Skyworks SKYA21043 is a highly integrated, 5 GHz FEM incorporating a 5 GHz single-pole, double-throw transmit/receive switch, a 5 GHz high-gain low-noise amplifier with bypass, and a 5 GHz power amplifier intended for high-power 802.11p DSRC and C-V2X applications and systems.

The LNA and PA disable functions ensure low leakage current in the off mode. An integrated logarithmic power detector is included to provide closed-loop power control over 20 dB of dynamic range.

The device is provided in a compact, 24-pin 3 mm x 5 mm shielded Land Grid Array package, which may reduce the front-end board space by more than 50 percent.

Qualified to AEC-Q100 (Grade 2), the SKYA21043 meets rugged reliability requirements for automotive applications including vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-everything (V2X).
