Quectel Wireless Solutions recently launched the new communication module, Wi-Fi HaLow FGH100M, which offers a more robust connection in challenging conditions and over long distances while maintaining low energy consumption. This Wi-Fi module is ideal for a wide range of Internet of Things applications, including battery-powered devices that can operate for months or even years. 

What does Wi-Fi HaLow mean?

Wi-Fi CERTIFIED HaLow™ is the designation for certified products incorporating IEEE 802.11ah technology, expanding Wi-Fi by operating in the frequency band below 1 GHz to achieve longer range and lower power consumption. 

This Wi-Fi technology meets unique requirements for the Internet of Things (IoT) and further extends its application possibilities in industrial, agricultural, smart building, and smart city environments. It enables low-power connectivity, essential for applications such as sensor networks and wearable devices.  

Wi-Fi HaLow offers longer range compared to many other IoT technology options and provides a more robust connection in challenging environments, where the ability to penetrate walls and barriers is a critical factor.

The Quectel FGH100M Wi-Fi HaLow module with long-range and low power consumption complies with the IEEE 802.11ah standard. It operates in the 850 – 950 MHz bands with channel widths of 1/2/4/8 MHz and offers a maximum output power of 21 dBm and a theoretical maximum data rate of 32.5 Mbps. Thanks to these parameters, users can control their IoT devices within a range of up to 1 km.

  • Wi-Fi HaLow module operates at a frequency of 850 – 950 MHz
  • AES, SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512, WPA3.

The use of SMD technology enhances the module’s durability and robustness, while the LGA case allows for easy integration into applications with limited space, providing reliable connectivity. With its ultra-compact size of 13.0 mm × 13.0 mm × 2.2 mm, it optimizes and efficiently reduces the size of the end product, as well as design costs, making it a perfect fit for size-sensitive applications.
