Feeder Finger to Launch New Cut Tape Solution for Panasonic CM and NPM-WX/WXS Equipment

Feeder Finger, a division of Automation Technical Services, will exhibit at the 2019 IPC APEX EXPO, scheduled to take place Jan. 29-31, 2019 at the San Diego Convention Center. The company today announced plans to launch its new cut tape solution for Panasonic CM and NPM Feeders in Booth #2926.

The CM Feeder Finger coupled with Panasonic’s 8mm dual-track feeder adds patented features and benefits that enhance machine utilization and throughput by reducing feeder preparation time by as much as 50 percent. An unskilled operator can load strips of component tape as short as three inches, or a full reel without a cover tape leader or tape splicing. Thus, the cover tape collection process and cover tape feeder jams during production are eliminated. The operator merely pushes the component tape into the feeder and places it onto the pick-and-place or feeder cart.

The Panasonic CM Feeder Finger Solution is designed precisely to fit the Panasonic 8mm dual-track feeder. The right and left sides are fabricated from high-grade aircraft aluminum and finished with a Teflon impregnated anodize coating. The two sides are assembled with stainless-steel button head cap screws. The Tape Supports and Sensor Stops are 3D printed using high strength Nylon.

ATS is beta testing the new cut tape solution at contract manufacturing sites in the US, Canada and Mexico with strong positive feedback from the production floor. Full production will begin prior to the IPC APEX EXPO.
