Avnet employees embrace the holiday spirit of giving to help local communities throughout the world

Children and adults alike will have a merrier holiday season thanks to Avnet employees from locations throughout the globe. Some engaged in formal Avnet Cares programs and others gathered with teammates to support local efforts.

Avnet Cares is Avnet’s employee volunteer and charitable giving program. It embodies Avnet’s global commitment and culture of hands-on volunteerism to support the many communities across the world where Avnet employees live and work.

The following are a few examples of these acts of kindness.

  • Avnet’s corporate headquarters in Phoenix, AZ, participated in three holiday activities – a food drive benefiting St. Mary’s Food Bank, the adoption of 25 foster youth through the Department of Child Safety, and the annual toy drive which benefited Banner Children’s Hospital Toy Closets – with a collection of over 200 toys.
  • Avnet’s offices in Poing & Dornach, Germany, held a raffle at their office Christmas party. They raised $2,374 which was matched by the Avnet Cares program, resulting in $4,748 being distributed among four charities that were chosen by the team and included a food bank, an organization supporting children in need in Bavaria, and an organization supporting victims of the war in Ukraine.
  • The office in Stevenage, UK, supported two holiday drives this season. Employees there collected food and gift donations for Haven First, a local homeless shelter that they have been supporting for a number of years. The Stevenage team also held an “Ugly Christmas Jumper” day on December 14, raising money for Save the Children, which is a nation-wide campaign in the UK.
  • Avnet’s Chicago team has supported the Salvation Army Angel Tree program for over 30 years. They collected more than 100 gifts for deserving children in their community. The Avnet team encouraged support from their team members, along with suppliers and partners from the area.
  • The Richfield, OH sales center partnered with Toys for Tots and collected hundreds of new toys for the program.

“The response was overwhelming because of the connection of the cause to one of our own, it is a testament to the culture and comradery of this team,” shared Paul Starr, Director of Customer Sales & Engagement.

  • In Belgrade, Serbia, members of the team held a charity concert featuring their very own Avnet Serbia Band. Money raised from the concert benefited MS Platforma Srbije, supporting those affected by Multiple Sclerosis. The Belgrade office is also hosting a New Year Bazaar, with money raised going to Centa Za Smestaj, an organization supporting youth with autism.
  • The North Reading, MA, facility had a coat drive to benefit the local Boys and Girls Clubs.  In addition to collecting coats and other winter items, the group raised $1,116 which was matched by Avnet Cares, resulting in a donation of $2,232, which was a new record for their team. Team members from this site also participate in the Women in Electronics group that came together at the Boston “Snowport” and raised $750 for Rosie’s Place, a community center that offers emergency shelter for women, along with legal assistance and support.

The response from Rosie’s Place was, “Thank you so much, you made our Christmas dreams come true.”
