Anritsu supported eCall sledge test in ADAC, using the Anritsu Network Simulator MD8475A

Anritsu’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) Simulator received MSD (Minimum Set of Data) and established Voice Call with IVS (In Vehicle System) via Anritsu’s Network Simulator MD8475A

Anritsu Corporation, a global provider of innovative test and measurement solutions for advanced and converged networks, announces the success of an eCall (a built-in emergency call in IVS) sledge Test Demo at the ADAC Technology Centre in December 2018, taking advantage of the performances of the Anritsu Network Simulator MD8475A.

The Signalling Tester MD8475A is an all-in-one base station simulator supporting LTE, LTE-Advanced, W-CDMA/HSPA/HSPA Evolution/DC-HSDPA, GSM/EGPRS, CDMA2000 1X/1xEV-DO Rev. A. and TD-SCDMA/TD-HSPA.

Based in Landsberg am Lech, Germany, the ADAC Technology Centre is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to the evaluation and methodical testing within the area of mobility and safety. The ADAC Technology Centre is certified ‘Quality Management System ISO 9001:2015’.

The test has been equipped with several supplies including IVS and 12V DC Crash proof external battery on the sledge as well as the MD8475A Network Simulator and Anritsu’s PSAP Simulator. The eCall Test was performed over the air (OTA) which demonstrates the excellent dynamic range of the MD8475A. Additionally, Anritsu’s BTS/Site Master and Neon Signal Mapper were used to verify the spectrum occupancy of the site and the excellent coverage from the MD8475A.

Erik Bott, Anritsu’s Automotive Sales Engineer, commented “I was pleased to see the possibility of establishing the eCall all the way from the sledge corridor’s end. The voice call conversation was very clear. It confirmed the MD8475A has an excellent OTA performance and the test began at 75 metres from the sledge corridor end at a speed of 70 km/h. Once the sledge stopped, eCall was manually triggered with the IVS and the Anritsu’s PSAP Simulator received the MSD. As a result, the voice call successfully established the connection via the MD8475A. The equipment on the sledge survived the crash and was able to successfully establish, as well as maintain, the eCall.”
