Functional safety in embedded systems
Functional safety is one of the most important features in many embedded systems today, especially within sectors such as automotive, industrial automation and medical. High-integrity standards frequently require you to provide extensive justification for selecting a particular development tool, unless the tool is already certified. The proof of compliance for the tools increases cost and time of development. To solve this problem, we provide certified versions of the complete compiler and debugger toolchain IAR Embedded Workbench for Arm, for Renesas RX, RL78 and RH850, and for STM8.
With the certified versions, a special functional safety support and update agreement is offered.
Certified by TÜV SÜD
The functional safety versions of the tools are certified by TÜV SÜD according to the requirements of IEC 61508, the international umbrella standard for functional safety, as well as ISO 26262 (ISO 26262-6:2018), which is used for automotive safety-related systems. In addition, the tools are certified according to the European railway standards EN 50128 and EN 50657. For Arm, RX, RL78 and STM8, the certification also covers IEC 62304 for medical device software.
